iEvery person who will drive must show their own documents. Copies and photos are not enough.

1. Meet us at the agreed place and time.
2. We check your passport, licence and IDP or translation.
3. Confirm the car's condition and the return arrangements with us.
4. The pre-drive briefing (included) covers the controls and what to watch for.
5. Manual cars: a short driving check before you leave (included).
6. Adjust the seat, mirrors and navigation, then set off.

We can deliver your car to Haneda or Narita Airport (price on request). Send your flight number, terminal and arrival time when you enquire.

• Allow time for immigration, baggage claim and customs before the handover time.
• If your flight is delayed, tell us as soon as you can.
• After a long flight, consider starting your drive the next morning. Driving on the left takes some getting used to.

If your plans change, email us as early as you can. Please check the cancellation terms with us before confirming your booking; any applicable fee depends on those terms.

3. Check the cabin, boot and glove box for your belongings.

We confirm the fuel type and return fuel policy for your vehicle before pickup. Follow those instructions when refuelling and returning the car; any fuel charges are governed by your rental terms.

Tell us as early as you can, before the return time. We will confirm whether we can extend and whether an extra charge applies.

Our rental rate includes vehicle protection and basic insurance. In Japan, if a rental car is damaged, the renter may still pay a deductible and a NOCiNon-Operation Charge (NOC)A fixed fee some rental companies charge when a damaged car cannot be rented out while it is repaired. It is separate from insurance.Close, a fixed fee for the time the car cannot be rented out while it is repaired. Many rental companies sell a waiver that covers these costs.

Rates include tax. Please confirm accepted payment methods, the payment schedule and whether a security deposit applies before you confirm your booking.

iMany rental companies in Japan expect a credit card in the driver’s name. If you have one, bring it.

1. Stop in a safe place and turn on the hazard lights. Help anyone who is injured and call 119 if needed.
2. Call the police on 110, even if the accident is minor and nobody is hurt.
3. Contact JDM REAL as soon as you can.
4. Do not agree on compensation with the other party on the spot. Leave that to the police and to us.

!Always report an accident to the police. Without a police report, insurance may not apply.

Stop where it is safe and turn on the hazard lights. Call us before you continue. On an expressway, move to the shoulder, get behind the guardrail and call for help.

Tell us at once if you lose the car key. If you lose your passport or licence, contact the nearest police box (koban) and your embassy or consulate.

The driver is responsible for fines. Illegal parking can lead to fines and towing. Use a car park, and if you receive a notice, tell us.

The Japan Visitor Hotline (JNTO) is open 24 hours, every day, in English, Chinese and Korean. It helps with emergencies such as accidents, illness and disasters.

You sign the rental agreement at pickup. It covers who may drive, how the car may be used, insurance and your responsibilities. If you would like to read the terms first, email us.

• Only the drivers named in the rental agreement may drive.
• Never drive after drinking any alcohol.
• Do not use the car for racing, track events or any competition, and do not lend it to anyone else.

• Drive on the left. Our cars are right-hand drive.
• Where no sign is posted, the limit is 60 km/h on general roads and 100 km/h on expressways. Tokyo’s expressways often have lower limits, so always follow the signs.
• Everyone in the car must wear a seat belt.
• Children under six must be in a child seat.
• Do not use a phone while driving. Never drive after drinking.
• Give way to pedestrians. Stop fully at railway crossings.

Expressways are toll roads. Some gates accept only ETCiElectronic Toll Collection (ETC)A card placed in the car’s reader. Ask us whether an ETC card is available for your vehicle and check the signs before entering a toll lane.

We confirm the correct fuel for your vehicle at pickup. Before refuelling, check the vehicle instructions and the fuel grade printed on the pump; do not rely on colour alone. Ask the station staff if unsure.

• Park only in car parks and coin parking. Do not park on the street.
• Some car parks limit height, width and length. Check before you enter.
• Sports cars are low. Take steep ramps and kerbs slowly.
• Ask your hotel about parking and its fee before you book.

• The RX-7s and the GT-R are manual. The LC500h is automatic.
• The gear lever is on your left. In Japanese cars the turn signal is usually on the right stalk and the wipers on the left.

The Lexus LC500h is an automatic. The RX-7s and the GT-R are manual.
